It’s been a week since my last Trying Tuesday post and I’m here to update you all on how that week went.
If you don’t know what Trying Tuesday is, read my posts here and here to get caught up!

This was the first week where I’ve actually started on the project—annotating a book. It’s been a lot of fun, and I can’t wait for March Break next week, where I’ll be able to read and annotate all day.
In my first week I annotated about 63 pages. In those pages, I’ve remembered so many things that I’ve forgotten or didn’t catch the first time I’ve read These Shallow Graves. As well, I’ve remembered just how much I love this book.
Now I’m on the hunt for more historical fiction novels, anyone have any recommendations?
Okay, back to the annotating. I always find annotating to be a unique experience, and I’ve found that I’m one of those people who enjoys to write in their books (yes, I know, how can I?) but try it! It’s fun! There’s just something so satisfying in writing on a book. Like you’re doing something bad but liking it.
Alright. I’ll stop.
While re-reading These Shallow Graves, here are a few quotes that stood out for me that I wanted to share:
We who have the means and a voice must use them to help those who have neither. Yet how can we help then if we don’t even know about them? And how can we know about them if no one writes about them? Is it so wrong to want to know things?
This!!! So much can be said about this, and I will be making a post about favourite quotes and why I like them, so I’ll be able to talk about this more then. But, especially now, this is so important. If you have privilege, use it to help those who don’t!
Why is it, she wondered, that boys get to do things and be things and girls only get to watch?
These Shallow Graves is filled with thoughts and quotes like these. Our main character is defiantly out there doing things girls of her background and status shouldn’t be doing at the time. She’s brave, determined, and an absolute treasure. She’s defiantly one of my favourite characters ever.
Saturday morning, I spent some time annotating and made this time lapse video of me annotating. It’s my first time doing something like this, so bear with me on the quality!
There’s supposed to be sound, but apparently it doesn’t want to play. Oh, well.
So here’s the update for the first week! I’m still trying to get the hang of these weekly updates, but it’s basically just an update on my progress.
Thank you for reading and see you next time ❤
