So this book had a different premise than any I’ve read before. I really liked the whole lottery winner idea, and the book portrayed all the different nuances that comes with money and just how complicated it is.
It’s also showed that money doesn’t buy happiness, but it can certainly make life much easier.
SPOILERS BEYOND THE QUOTE
We make our own luck. I believed that, too. We chose our own fate. We controlled our own future. I knew what I wanted. I needed to go get it.
Let me start with saying that I LOVED Seth. He’s adorable, understanding, awkward, shy, and beautiful. He’s quite perfect, to be honest. Everything he’s done in the book, from not talking about Maddie’s lottery win, to the date, to the “am I going to get lucky” scene at the end . . . ugh, can he exist in real life?
The answer is probably no, but let’s keep on hoping I guess.
I guessed that Seth knew and acted like he didn’t because he knew it would’ve probably made Maddie uncomfortable, but it was still a very cute scene. I have a feeling maybe they won’t stay together in the future, but the book left off at a really nice place and I’d love to remember them like that forever.
I didn’t like Maddie’s brother at all, and her parents were okay. They didn’t pressure her into giving them anything, so that was well-done. They have their own issues to deal with that has nothing to do with money or Maddie.
People say that money doesn’t buy happiness, but money does make life easier. This was very well executed in this book. Maddie’s family life was bad before she won the lottery, and then things got really good with the money. It then reverted back to being bad, but it was problems that were more easily manageable, I guess. You can deal with feelings a lot easier than trying to find money you don’t have and probably won’t.
Anyways, all in all, I really enjoyed the book.
Have you read this book? What did you think?
Thank you for reading and see you next time ❤
