I loved The Revolution of Birdie Randolph and so I decided to read the author’s other books. I was a bit hesitant going into this at first but I’m glad I did.
This was such a short read, and the stats on the e-book said I spent four and a half hours reading this book which is super quick!
My biggest critic is that the pregnancy doesn’t get revealed until about 60% into the book. This is one of the things I hate in books. If something’s in the synopsis, I like it to happen very early on in the book. Then I can be surprised by the plot twists that happen and not wonder when the story will start.
Nevertheless, it was tackled quite well and I’m glad Yvonne chose the decision that felt right for her, even though it couldn’t have been easy.
I didn’t really like Omar from the beginning and it’s so gross that he chose “Omar” as the name to make him seem more, interesting or oppressed.
I liked Warren well enough but he is not really ready for a relationship. He wants and needs to focus on his work. I think him and Yvonne will probably end up focusing on their careers but always go back to each other whenever they have the time. Maybe they’ll even start a relationship some time in the far future?
Yvonne’s confusion over her future was well developed and while I wished we got to learn what she eventually chose, keeping it as a mystery or open-ended adds to the whole feel of the book—confusion, unknown, etc.
All in all, I really liked this book and recommend it!
Thank you for reading and see you next time ❤
