Author(s): Tomi Adeyemi
Stand-alone or Series: Legacy of Orïsha #1
Rating: 5/5 stars
I won’t let your ignorance silence my pain.

I recently bought the sequel, Children of Virtue and Vengeance and since it’s been two years (!!) since I’ve read COBAB, I thought it’s due for a reread. I remember falling in love with the poetic reading, and really enjoying this book.
Yup, still in love with it.
I’m always nervous going into rereads with books I love because I’m afraid I won’t love them anymore/as much. But I didn’t have to worry with this! Since it’s been so long, it was practically like reading a new book and I remember plenty of things that I’d forgotten/didn’t know happened.
My outlook on the characters have changed a lot, too. I’m less conflicted on whether I like or hate Inan (hate, defiantly hate), I love Amari and Zélie, and Tzain just needs some rest. I liked the dynamics between the characters, the romance between Amari and Tzain, and the friendship between Amari and Zélie is so wholesome. Also, I don’t remember there being a Roën character so it was a nice surprise to meet the sarcastic, mysterious, mercenary.
The world building is so lush and beautiful, Tomi Adeyemi can write, no doubt. I could clearly see the jungles, feel the heat of the desert, and the darkness and grief of the characters. Everything was well done and written beautifully.
All in all this was an amazing story that will leave you wanting for more (already started the sequel!) and feel all the feels.
Thank you for reading and see you next time ❤
