Can we talk about how gorgeous this cover is? I love it!
I can’t say the same for the book itself, though. I will say that I got through it very quickly. I didn’t realize how far along I read, and that’s always a nice feeling.
My biggest criticism is that Nina had no depth. The way she talked and thought gave me major Bella from Twilight vibes, meaning it all felt pretty monotone. She did have some bursts of emotions but for the most part I couldn’t really care for her. Neither could I care for Jamie. There’s some chemistry there between the two, but the overall affect wasn’t that great. I much preferred Sasha and Joydeep, to be honest.
Nina was also so frustrating in her decisions. The biggest one is when she played with Dan’s camera and broke it. Like, you’re a seventeen/eighteen year old, do you not know not to play with stuff like that? It’s been awhile since I’ve read about such a frustrating protagonist.
I liked the little breaks in between the story with excerpts of Nina’s dad’s show and other shows. It was a nice change of pace.
Side note but anyone else notice that the author uses ellipsis a lot? Like a lot, it was distracting once I noticed it.
I liked the idea of a radio show and I think that aspect was well done. I liked how they had some botched shows and then they started picking up momentum. The interview, when it finally happened, was well done! I guess for this book I liked the plot more than the characters, which isn’t something usual for me.
All in all, this was a cute book that I did enjoy but had some things that could be improved!
Thank you for reading and see you next time ❤
