There are a million pieces of us scattered through my memory, moments tiny and insignificant to everyone else in the world except for me.

I loved Legend when I first read it a few years ago. I ended up reading almost the whole book in one sitting. I remember I kept saying just one more chapter only to realize it’s been hours later and I’m almost out of chapters.

But unfortunately Rebel did not make me feel this way. It was hard to actually get through this book. It felt pretty unnecessary, in my opinion. The end of Champion, while not the fairytale happily ever after, was perfect for this world. And even though I loved the ending of Rebel, for most of the book I felt like this could all just not happen.

That’s basically my thoughts on the book. There isn’t much that made me feel. The scenes between June and Daniel were awkward, even when they supposedly moved past that stage. Pressa and Eden had the potential for good chemistry, but it was rushed and not well developed.

The big reveal and fight scene was anticlimactic that when the winding down happened I was like, “Is that it?” And again, I don’t see the point to it.

I will say though, that I did like what they were fighting for and it fit perfectly with current events. I would read the news and then this book, and it was eerily similar. The resolution to it wasn’t tied in a neat bow and was pretty realistic, which was nice.

The world wasn’t very well developed. I liked the idea of a level/point system, kinda like Warcross, but there was a lot of things kinda glossed over and not really explained. I wanted more information about how the system operates and more interactions with it beyond the vague tech talk we got.

So I was overall very disappointed in this book, but it did hold some nostalgia.

Thank you for reading and see you next time ❤
