I had such high hopes for this book but unfortunately it did not live up to it at all 😦

This story is supposed to be about Jake and Mia, enemies whose moms are always pushing them together to date. To finally get them to back off, they decide to fake date and then have an epic breakup. Of course, they fall for each other during the process.

Fake dating? Enemies to lovers? FAVOURITE TROPES.

But for supposed enemies Jake and Mia did not dislike each other at all, no matter how much the author tried to make it seem like they do. From the first moment they appeared on the page it was obvious they were friends and liked each other. I would have preferred it if it was friends to lovers, to be honest.

The thing that annoyed me the most was that there was no reason for them to hate each other. They were friends when they were younger and then overnight apparently they hated each other. It was not well done at all.

Then, the fake dating? Practically non-existent. They barely spent time in front of their moms to convince them of their dating. It wasn’t as developed as I would have liked it to be.

I didn’t really mind Mia and Jake as characters themselves. They were fine. I don’t love them but I also don’t hate them. They had good chemistry, but it was ruined with the forced enemies to lovers. I couldn’t be invested in them.

All in all this was a big disappointment. It had such potential but feel flat.

Thank you for reading and see you next time ❀
