Frostblood is a typical fantasy—I found all the major elements expected from a fantasy book in this one. But it’s been awhile since I’ve read a fantasy book and so I didn’t mind it!
I absolutely loved the banter between Ruby and Arcus. Although I was disappointed in the shift from being enemies to friends. It happened out of nowhere. There wasn’t one big event that really forced them to see each other as more than enemies, and that was disappointing. They have good chemistry, but I wished for a little more development.
I enjoyed the first part of the book way more than the second. I found the fight scenes boring, to be honest. I enjoyed more the interactions between characters.
I wish there was more buildup. I wanted more information about the world and more training and getting to know the other characters.
There wasn’t a big plot twist that had me shocked, but I enjoyed it well enough to want to continue with the sequel!
All in all, this is a pretty solid, typical fantasy book.
