I have always liked the idea of sports romances, and I’ve read a few that I’ve enjoyed. I don’t usually find a lot of them, so when I saw this series I knew I had to start reading them. Everything from the synopsis to the illustrated cover (we know how much I love illustrated covers) made it intriguing to me.

First let me say that I love Marlee. She’s such a fun narrator and I really enjoyed her voice for this story. She’s sarcastic, funny, serious and heartfelt when needed. The writing is also easy to follow and entertaining. It made for a smooth reading experience.

Marlee as a character was fun to read about and I really liked her. I especially liked the development she went through. She had ups and downs and emerged as a different, but better person.

Gavin was a great love interest. Even though I disliked him near the end, I understand the need for all that to happen. That conflict was necessary for plot and development to happen. I did feel a bit blindsided by it a bit. I thought it didn’t reflect his character that we’ve seen so far. But after thinking about it a little, it made more sense. I wish there was a little more build-up for it, though.

Gavin and Marlee together we’re adorable, and I loved that she could experience a better relationship after Chris.

All the other characters were mostly one-dimensional and typical, but that was okay. This story is purely for the fun and romance. It’s nothing serious, and so I didn’t expect or necessarily want very complex characters.

The plot and events that happened were really enjoyable. I found myself really invested and even nervous several times as we’re waiting for the newest drama to drop. I laughed and cheered. It was a very enjoyable experience overall.

I will be reading the rest of the books in the series!

All in all, this was a really fun and enjoyable romance book. It’s perfect for when you don’t really have the mental capacity to focus on a heavy fantasy and would just like something fun.
