Fall Leaves Playlist

Imagine walking down a sidewalk, the wind blowing strong enough to ruffle the trees and your coat. The trees loom high above with branches outstretched like protective mothers, their leaves ranging in colours from deep brown to golden yellow and blood red. With a scarf wrapped around your neck, music fills your ears.

What are you listening to?

Narrated For You by Alec Benjamin

From this album, I have:

“Let Me Down Slowly”

“Gotta Be A Reason”

Alec Benjamin is not very mainstream, but I love his songs. They’re very lyrical and to me are full of “lonely teen who hides in their room and listen to music while reading books on a Friday night.” Which is, let’s be honest, as accurate a representation of me that there is. But really, his songs are filled with fall/winter vibes for me, and I love his lyrics, the beat, his voice, just everything about these songs are comforting and fun. They match the mood I’m going for with this playlist.

These Two Windows by Alec Benjamin

Continuing on my Alec Benjamin fangirling session, here’s the songs I chose:

“Mind Is A Prison”

“Demons”

“Match In The Rain”

“I’m Not A Cynic”

This is his new album, and the songs are more sadder and “depressing.” They talk about pain and depression, and they’re slow and mellow. Once again, Benjamin brings his amazing vocals and lyrics to make great songs. This album is just as amazing as the last one.

Folklore by Taylor Swift

We can’t talk about fall 2020 without the anthem of the season, Folklore. With this album, Taylor Swift forever changed what I’ll listen to every fall. Here are the songs I chose from the album:

“the lakes – bonus track”

“cardigan”

“exile (feat. Bon Iver)”

I would add the whole album to the playlist if I could, but I’m limiting myself to these three. To me, they’re the most “fall/sad” vibing songs in the album. I feel like they will be perfect to listen to while walking during the cold fall days. I mean, “cardigan” is just a given. It’s called cardigan. Cardigans are perfect fall clothes. See? Logic.

Leslie Odom Jr.

I love Leslie Odom Jr.’s vocals, and his Mr album is a favourite of mine. Here are the songs I chose:

“Cold” from Mr

“Winter Song” from Simply Christmas

These songs do feel more winter-y, but it still works to appeal to the coldness of the fall. They’re slow and beautiful with Leslie Odom Jr.’s powerful vocals and heart-wrenching lyrics.

“A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri

Yes, this is from the Twilight soundtrack, but it’s good. This is a more upbeat song, but we need some variety in the playlist. The lyrics are longing enough to fit the overall vibe of the playlist, though.

“Wild Thing” by Jasmine Cephas-Jones

Jasmine Cephas-Jones has such a distinctive and beautiful voice and singing style. This song is one of my favourites and makes me feel confident. I feel like this is perfect for when you’re really feeling yourself with the fall outfits. It’s also a slow song that’s a bit upbeat that overall really works.

The Good & The Bad by Anthony Ramos

I love this album and had it on repeat last year, so I just had to pick some songs from it. It’s more upbeat from the rest of the songs in this playlist, but the lyrics fit the overall vibe:

“Come Back Home”

Relationship – Acoustic”

Also, the acoustic version of “Relationship” is just amazing, and really works for this playlist.

Original Soundtrack for Chocolate

Chocolate is a k-drama I watched earlier this year. While it’s not my favourite drama, the music was phenomenal.

You & I” by ID:Earth

Tree” by Car, the garden

These songs bring memories of the drama and the events that happened. They’re slow and beautiful, and defiantly something I’d be listening to during fall.

Original Soundtrack for Mr. Sunshine

Mr. Sunshine is another k-drama I watched this year, and this one is defiantly a favourite. It completely shattered my heart though, so these songs can bring really sad memories, but it works for this playlist. The songs are slow and beautiful, just perfect for fall.

The Day” by Park Hyo Shin

Sad March” by Elaine

Days Without Tears” by Kim Yuna

Sori” by Lee Suhyun

Good Day” by MeloMance

See You Again” by Baek Ji Young

Mr. Sunshine – Instrumental” by Nam Hye Seung, Park Sang Hee

Sad Ending – Instrumental” by Nam Hye Seung, Park Sang Hee

There’s a lot of songs, but all of them are just perfect for this playlist. They bring back so many memories, and just listening to these songs make me want to cry. Dramatic, I know, but it was such a good drama!

Original Soundtrack for Crash Landing on You

Crash Landing on You is another k-drama I watched earlier this year. I didn’t pay much attention to its music expect for this one song:

Here I Am Again” by Yerin Baek

So beautiful.

Map of the Soul: 7 by BTS

I couldn’t have a playlist without including some BTS music. I started listening to them around August/September of this year, and now there’s no going back. Here’s some slow and perfect-for-this-playlist songs from the album MOTS: 7:

“Inner Child”

“00:00 (Zero O’Clock)”

“Jamais Vu”

Aren’t they perfect?

So that’s it for this playlist! I think there’s good variety within these songs while still resulting in an overall fall-y vibe. I hope you enjoy these songs as much as I do!
