Another month, another wrap-up post!
I’ll admit that I’ve been feeling slow when it comes to reading. Even though, when compared with last year, I’ve read more books at this point in the year in 2019 than I did in 2018. Why am I feeling like this? I don’t know.
But I do know that whatever books I’m reading now are good books that I’m enjoying, and this month did not disappoint.
So, a total of nine books were read this month. Let’s get to it:
The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner
Recommend it? Not really. I didn’t like this book and it was really hard to finish it. However, the second book was much better. So if you can hear it, I’d defiantly get through this book to get to the sequel!

Just One trilogy by Gayle Forman
Recommend it? Yes! I loved this trilogy. It was fun, set in Europe (mostly in Paris), and with plenty of Shakespeare!

A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer
Recommend it? This depends on your taste. For me, it was a meh book. I loved the idea and the representation included in this book. However, it fell flat at times for me. I’m still going to read the sequel because I’m interested in seeing what’ll happen, but I don’t love this book to death. For this one, you should read it to make up your own mind!

Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen McManus
Recommend it? I absolutely loved One of Us is Lying. This book was different, but it was still entertaining. I don’t love it, but it was good enough that I read it fairly quickly. I’d give this one a try but I wouldn’t expect something as great as One of Us is Lying!

Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennett
Recommend it? Absolutely! Jenn Bennett does it again with this contemporary. I was hesitant because I read some reviews that said there was a lot of camping vocabulary (which makes sense, it’s a book that’s set in the wilderness when a camping trip goes wrong). But I didn’t see a problem with that. This book is like a modern Romeo and Juliet and I loved it!

The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi
Recommend it? I’m a big fan of The Gilded Wolves but unfortunately I didn’t really enjoy The Star-Touched Queen. There was so much happening, and I was having trouble keeping up. There is no doubt as to the beauty of the Chokshi’s writing, but this book wasn’t for me. I did love the mythology in it, I learned a lot!
Love, Life, and the List by Kasie West
Recommend it? I fairly enjoyed this book, though it’s not one of my favourite Kasie West books. I don’t really like best friend turned lovers trope, so this one didn’t really click for me. It was still a nice, quick story to read!
The Queen of Attolia by Megan Whalen Turner
Recommend it? Yes! I liked this book a lot more than the first. It was still boring at time, but the last hundred pages were amazing. I can’t wait to continue the series!

On the Fence by Kasie West
Recommend it? Not really. This was my least favourite Kasie West book. The romance was not really developed. I did enjoy the family dynamic, and how the main character found herself. I didn’t find myself very interested though in the story. It’s pretty old though so much of the things talked about would be different if this book was written today.
On the Come Up by Angie Thomas
Recommend it? YES! This book is fantastic! I loved everything about it. The characters, the plot, the conflict, the romance, the raps, everything. I found myself not able to put it done—a classic case of “one more chapter” but ending up reading the whole book. Angie Thomas wrote a great sophomore novel and I can’t wait to see what else she has in store!

I read a total of twelve books this month, the highest number so far this year! Considering this was a pretty stressful month even with March break, I’m proud! There were some great books here and I can’t wait to see what April has in store!
