Hi everyone and welcome back to another week of Epic Epilogue! This week we’ll be talking about some amazing BIPOC stand-alones!
Let’s start:
Jackpot by Nic Stone

One of my favourite books of the year! This was so good. Everything from the plot, to the writing, the characters, the relationships, the romance . . . it’s a perfect stand-alone that I really enjoyed.
The Revolution of Birdie Randolph by Brandy Colbert

This was the first books from Brandy Colbert that I read, and it wasn’t the last! This was such an amazing book, and I couldn’t put it down. I loved the romance in this one, and the twists were amazing. The ending was perfect, a little bittersweet but with a really great conclusion.
Let Me Hear a Rhyme by Tiffany D. Jackson

This is another excellent stand-alone. There’s so much in this book, and it follows several characters but it doesn’t overwhelm. Everything goes together perfectly, and all the storylines come together seamlessly and I felt very little confusion keeping the different times and characters apart. I defiantly recommend this book!
Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds

This is a verse novel that took me a few hours to get through. Once you start, it’s really hard to put it down. It’s short and sweet and just fantastic. It deals with a heavy subject, and the ending leaves you questioning and thinking.
Starfish by Akemi Dawn Bowman

This book deals with such heavy subjects, and I found myself crying several times. This is one of my favourite books this year, and the progression and character development seen in it is amazing. I loved this book so much and could not shut up about it for weeks after reading it. It’s amazing.
With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo

This book was so good that I could not stop reading it, even though I had a tone of studying to do at that time. There’s so many amazing things in it that comes together to create this masterpiece and I loved it. I defiantly recommend checking it out!
